Come Celebrate SALSA on Friday, November 14th!

"VIVA" - The Latin American Awareness Club of Ohio Wesleyan University wants to invite you to join them in our team effort to alleviate poverty in Latin America. S.A.L.S.A will be an evening of Latin dances, music, and food organized by ten students as a team effort to fundraise and aid three Countries in Latin America: Haiti, Peru, and Nicaragua. It was decided that the raised funds would go towards Rebuilding, Replenishing, and Relieving.

One third of the money raised will be going towards Rebuilding Peru. Last year Peru suffered tremendously from an earthquake that left many without homes, and even if some help was given last year in the midst of chaos, much is still left to be done. Another third will go towards Replenishing Nicaragua's water system. Although water covers ten percent of Nicaragua's surface, environmental degradation, pollution, and simple scarcity in some regions threaten the country's ability to provide enough water. Today, nearly a third of Nicaraguans do not have access to potable water. The other third will benefit The Haiti effort for hurricane relief will go through UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Highlights of the evening, which runs from 8-midnight at the Ham-Wil Center includes, a salsa band and appetizers from around the world. Just come and listen to the music if you don't feel like dancing! This is a family-friendly event.
