Tea Recipes
We now have a few recipes to share with you. TJese come from the snacks we offered at our Tea Workshop on April 5th. I am still waiting on one more recipe, that killer chocolate cake, and it will be along shortly. I just want to make sure that it is the best. The tea question for the chocolate cake is: Will it be Creamy Earl Grey, or Sunday Morning? So, while we are waiting I am going to throw in a Bonus Recipe that comes from my daughter.
Split Pea Soup
Our contributor used our Womens Bean Project Split Pea Soup Mix from the Global Village Collection, BUT, as many good cooks do, she did a little something different to put her signature on it. She added a potato and a carrot a nice touch added body and more vegetable flavor. She also mentioned that her husband is sensitive to onion, so since many people would add a touch of onion, she substituted celery instead.
Company Muffins
Before making the muffins take 4 ½ teaspoons of Hummingbird Nectar tea with 3 cups of boiling water combine and let sit for a couple of hours. Drain the tea liquid off to be used for a beverage later and mix the tea itself into the muffin mix.
½ c. flour
½ c. whole wheat flour
1 c. oats
¾ c. brown sugar
1 T. cinnamon
2 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
½ t. salt
2 eggs
½ c. milk
¼ c. oil
Combine the dry ingredients, the liquid mix, and the Hummingbird Nectar tea. Mix until just moistened. Fill muffin cups ¾ full. Bake at 375 degrees for 18-20 minutes. Makes 18 muffins.
Tea Enhanced Cornbread
Take 2 teaspoons of Heartwarming Cinnamon tea, steep in three cups of boiling water until cool. Drain off liquid to be used as a beverage later. Spread tea leaves on paper towel to dry.
Using the Womens Bean Project Cornbread Mix, following the directions on the bag, combine ingredients to make the cornbread and pour into a lightly greased 9 inch Pyrex dish. Just before baking, sprinkle the tea leaves over the top of the cornbread mixture, then using a table knife, work the tea into the mixture lightly using the same motion you would use to make a marble cake. Bake according to the instructions.
